The Imaging and Informatics Lab at the University of Massachusetts Lowell was founded by Dr. Yu in November, 2014, based on his previous CT Lab at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. The lab occupies a dedicated room of ~600 square feet in the Ball Hall, The lab has two state-of-the-art high-performance workstations. One is Colfax SXT8600P purchased in 2014 (NVIDIA Tesla K10 GPU Cards, CUDA Platform), and the other is BIZON G3000 Deep Learning Workstation purchased in November 2019 (4x NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB, 2x NIVIDIA Link, 128 G Memory). Under the support of Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, in collaboration with Dr. Gkikas in the department of Chemistry, in March 2021, a state-of-the-art photon-counting spectral CT scanner was purchased from MARS in New Zealand. The scanner is equipped with CdZnTe-Medipix3RX detector with 110 µm pixel pitch, up to eight energy bin per pixel, and sample size is of up to 125 mm in diameter and 450 mm in length. Each post-doctoral fellow/PhD student/ visiting scholar has his/her own cube and desktop.
